Radio reunites ...A date has been set for a "Last Blast" Detroit Radio Reunion -- Saturday, Sept. 25, 2010 -- and grand poobah Art Vuolo says he's "overwhelmed" by the response he's gotten from far-flung Detroit radio veterans. "When we had the last Radio Reunion (in 2005), Facebook and Twitter didn't exist," Vuolo says. "I've had between 200 and 250 people contact me who say they want to come."Among them: Rockin' Robin Seymour(WKMH, WKNR), Scott Regen (WKNR, CKLW), Ed Bush (WLIN, Lincoln Park).
It appears that CKLW's Tom Shannon might not be able to make it. But as Vuolo points out, "That means Dick Purtan will get to tell his Tom Shannon joke." Which is? "Tom can't be here tonight; he's at Beaumont Hospital waiting for his next girlfriend to be born." Purtan will be honored for his 45 years in Detroit radio, along with the Specs Howard School (for its 40th anniversary) and Sonny Eliot ...
